You don't have to understand every theft, but that doesn't make it any less illegal either. This is one such case: In a supermarket in Meyenburg, Brandenburg, an unknown man stole a "high-quality inventory device," according to the police report. The crime happened in June of last year. Now the man is being sought with the help of surveillance images.
Because when the previously unknown man came to the supermarket on June 23, 2021 between 8 and 9 a.m. to steal the inventory device, he was recorded by surveillance cameras.
The inventory device, which was left unattended by an employee on a pallet of goods shortly before the theft, resembles a smartphone, according to the police report. This is probably one of the reasons why the unknown man took it with him. The problem: The inventory scanner from the "Zebra" brand cannot be used as a normal smartphone. Nevertheless, it has a value of 500 euros.

Despite the comparatively small amount of damage, the Brandenburg police now apparently considered it justified to find the thief of the inventory scanner with the help of a public search with photos. Investigators describe the man as "younger in age" and of "slender build". He was also wearing a black hoodie and short gray pants at the time of the crime. The black sports shoes with partially colored soles and a large tattoo on the left calf were conspicuous, according to the police report.
