Demo in Bautzen prevents massive police force

The evening of the 29.November 2021 will certainly not forget many citizens who were on the record on site (that's the name of the grain market in Bautzen colloquially) so quickly.Citizens from the city and the surrounding area have been meeting here for months.They demonstrate on the square against the Corona measures.A peaceful event, as there are many of them in the Free State of Saxony.

So far there have been no significant police operations.However, this picture will change today.The Saxon police were on site with around 30 emergency vehicles and a lot of emergency services.The usual demonstration was now prohibited by the police and not permitted.The meeting manager then broke off the demonstration.The police referred the people of the "record", who followed in large numbers of the arrangement.The police informed those present that it was an "illegal collection".

Some of the demonstrators stood in height of the Edeka and was quickly encased by the recurring police.Including numerous pensioners, mothers and fathers with their children.

Again and again the demonstrators occurred.At least one person is brought to the ground by the police by violence.The subsequent data recordings of people dragged on for hours.What was striking was the high proportion of older fellow citizens among the demonstrators who repeatedly emphasized: "No violence, everything has to remain peaceful."

As a result, the police found around 80 identities and made as many advertisements for violating the Corona emergency regulation.There is a risk of a fine of 250 euros.

As the police said, in addition to emergency services from the Görlitz police department, officials from the Saxon riot police were also deployed.

Frank Peschel, member of the state parliament from Bautzen and AfD City Councilor Oliver Helbing, commented on the action:

Frank Peschel said: "The events related to the prohibited demonstration in Bautzen frighten and worry me.After evaluating our image and video material, I question the massive police operation."

Oliver Helbing adds: "I will discuss this disproportionate use in the city council.I am aware of an incident, no resistance to the police.How the slowly moving demonstrators were held for hours and dissipated individually by the police to pass the passenger.."
