Marlene Morreis "I think diets are stupid, I like eating too much for that"

Marlene Morreis is one of the stars of the new "Denmark Crime" series. In the lifestyle interview, she talks about beauty, fashion and diets.

Most recently, the Austrian actress Marlene Morreis (44) caught the eye in the unusual tragic comedy "Long live the Queen" (2020). In the last film by Hannelore Elsner (1942-2019), which Iris Berben (71), Gisela Schneeberger (73), Eva Mattes (66) and Judy Winter (77) completed for her, Morreis played her daughter. Now she can be seen in the pilot of the new series "Der Denmark-Krimi: Rauhnächte" (October 14, 8:15 p.m., the first) as a patrolman in the picturesque town of Ribe.

In a lifestyle interview with the news agency spot on news, the native of Upper Austria, who studied Nordic philology in her adopted home of Munich, explains whether she is a trendsetter when it comes to fashion. The actress also gives a beauty tip and reveals her worst fashion sin.

What makes a person attractive to you?

Marlene Morreis: Humor, honesty, openness and the knowledge that you can rely on the person.

What is your top beauty tip?

Morreis: I've been wearing sunscreen every day for as long as I can remember. And I drink at least 2.5 liters of water a day. I owe the rest to good genes.

Who is your fashion role model?

Morreis: I've learned not to care about the opinions of others and wear what I feel like. My style is also diverse. Above all, it usually has to be colourful. Everything happens there. From vintage 40's clothing to striped dungarees and pink Doc Martens. I dress how I feel on a day. Besides, a lot of things in our lives and in the world are dull enough that I personally don't have to wear black as well. If I have to name a role model, it would be Katharine Hepburn - one of the first to wear pants and defied all clichés and expectations, gloriously non-conformist.

Are you a trendsetter?

Morreis: No. First of all, I don't follow fashion, I have a lot of timeless things in my closet and most of the time I don't even realize what's in at the moment. Sometimes I hit the mark by accident. Wide cuts are in right now, I've been wearing them for a few years because they're much more comfortable. But I often buy exactly the clothes that are on the sale rack two months later. I've often wondered what that means. Sometimes I also happen to be ahead of the curve, like with the thick eyebrows that everyone has been painting for a while. I actually had that 20 years ago when I had my Audrey Hepburn phase...

What is an absolute fashion no-go for you?

Morreis: When you see that someone is not comfortable with what he or she is wearing. Or you just buy something because it's in, but you personally don't like it because it doesn't suit your body type or personality. And then these short sneaker socks, which you can still barely see, they kill me. And panty lines.

What was your own worst fashion sin?

Morreis: A pair of platform black Buffalos in the late 1990's. Don't know what world they were ever alright in. And clothes that are too tight because you would like to be thinner than you are. Such a pity.

What do you prefer to wear: heels or sneakers?

Morreis: Sneakers. Always. Without question. Out of competition. High heels look great, but I've never conditioned my foot for them, they would have to go to a training camp first. I wear them with enthusiasm on the red carpet and at official events. It lasts about 15 minutes and then my feet hurt...

What is your styling tip on a bad hair day

Morreis: I felt it every day, which is why I often wear my hair in hairstyles, braided or pinned up or sometimes with a cap .

Can you cook?

Morreis: Yes, I love to cook and almost every day - but according to the recipe. But I also had to train myself laboriously, so I didn't get that much from home. My grandmother was only able to cook two dishes well, otherwise there were a lot of packet soups and the like and my mum only discovered the joy of cooking later.

Which dish do you never succeed in?

Morreis: I've finally mastered the yeast dough and often try to bake bread, but this is very often further converted into croutons for taste reasons...

Do you diet? If so, which ones have you tried?

Morreis: No. So I did a healing fast 15 years ago. That was quite good. I did the Master Cleanse back then. Was good for the body, but that's not for losing weight, it's for cleansing. I find diets stupid, I like to eat too much for that. I'd rather do more sport if I don't fit in my pants anymore. There is this slender image that everyone thinks should be conformed to, but I try to steer against it. I also often think to myself: You'll lose a little weight for this and that production, but then I think to myself, nope, what for? The role doesn't demand that and it's good for the viewer to see a few more roles on TV. There's already far too much ideal world, not everyone has to have a supposedly 'perfect appearance'. I also like to sway back and forth in a five-kilo radius. I've gotten used to that.

Which calorie bomb do you sometimes treat yourself to?

Morreis: Everyone. Especially apricot dumplings. I'm Austrian and we have so many great desserts. I can eat li bugs till I drop. Everything bohemian. The cuisine that came to Austria as a result is probably the only advantage of Austria incorporating all the surrounding countries during the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.

What sport do you like to play?

Morreis: Yoga for a few years, the sporty version with a lot of fascia work. And then jogging every now and then, but by then I've probably already passed my most interesting time. Cycling for two years. My boyfriend rides a racing bike and always wanted me to ride it too, but instead I zip around on my trekking bike, I think 60 km tours are great, I also like to look around a lot and now I don't ride at high speed. In addition, you have to stop off and get the economy going.

What is your current favorite app?

Morreis: I try to find and avoid apps on the whole stupid. I use them for practical content, reading the paper, checking the weather, and yes, the inevitable Instagram. I think Nebenan.de is great, I think sustainability is very important and people often exchange and give away.
