Closed gyms and lack of exercise in the home office make sure that many people now train from home. The purchase of one or the other training equipment is not missing. Does a homeworkout replace the visit to the fitness centre? Prof. Dr. Ingo Froböse, sports physician and author of "Fundamental Fitness" (Riva) is certain: "Fitness studios will continue to play an important role in mass sports." This is mainly due to the versatile equipment, which offers significantly more possibilities than training in his own home, he says in an interview with the news agency spot on News.
"there are equipment from which you can benefit better at the gym. In my opinion, there are, for example, no good treadmills or vibration plates for home use," says Frogöse. However, this does not mean that a home workout with devices is not effective. & quot; what I definitely find useful is elastic ribbons or so-called gymsticks, with which you can take your training at home or outdoors to a new level. & quot;
The sports physician also warns of lack of exercise during the lockdown. "especially children and young people run the risk of not being able to train their physical and mental skills enough. Training managers and trainers are trained to create an environment in which the younger ones can develop their skills optimally. This environment has been missing for a long time."
Another consequence is metabolic problems affecting both children and adults. This could lead to obesity, diabetes or high blood pressure, says Frogöse. It is all the more important now to boost the metabolism through sport, which is also significantly more effective than a crash diet. "we all know the principle: those who burn more energy than they consume decreases. [...] the combination of strength and endurance training increases our basic turnover and thus also the energy consumption. Instead of counting your calories and risking the yo-yo effect, it is recommended for a healthy and sustainable weight loss above all-sporting activity."
