Katharina Steinruck about the German high in the marathon, the effect of the wonderful shoes and the search for real vaccination appointments.
Mrs. Steinruck, in the middle of the pandemic tumble in the marathon the personal bests: Richard Ringer has run the fourth best German time this month with 2:08:49 hours, they improved in Enschede to 2:25:59.What did you think afterwards?
I had not been able to realize that at all and therefore looked at the run two days later: I had to smile that the commentators had primarily talked about my outfit. After my Frankfurt Marathon in 2019, I had already said that I could have run under 2:27 hours for a time. Finally, I also trained in the direction of a 'little' 2: 26 times that it went even better, is all the more beautiful.I think I can run even faster if I hold the speed at the back.
How did her mother and trainer Katrin Dörre-Heinig react, who was traveling in these spheres herself?
She was very happy and dares to do the times that she ran in Hamburg in 1999 with her best time 2:24:35 hours, for example.Whether it works depends on the form of the day and the race.
Do you dream of winning an Olympic medal in 1988?She is still the only German who won a medal in the marathon.
I had this bronze medal in my hand several times (laughs). She has become the third, fourth and fifth at the Olympic Games - and when the GDR boycotted the games in 1984, she was even the second best in the world from the time. But that is not comparable to today.I'm not measuring myself to repeat something like that. The competition with the African, Japanese and American runners is too great for that.I would have to run for five or six minutes faster, I don't dare to do that.
What are your goal for the Olympic Games?
I want to put a good competition and land as far as possible.I will definitely enjoy it.But because the marathon is outsourced to Sapporo and we are not in the Olympic village, it will feel more like a big international race.In any case, I will be proud to wear the national jersey.
There is a punch and stabbing in men and women around the three German marathon starting places. What's going on there?
If you had to trump with a time under 2:42 hours in Rio de Janeiro for 2016, 2:29:30 from the World Athletics Association are now challenged - and now you don't even drive with a 2:27.In this respect, we got offspring that the street apparently has become more attractive for many runners: inside from the performance area. Now many do not think about the end of 20, early 30, trying to try in the marathon when you no longer go on the train. This is an incredibly good level that we have in Germany. And of course the footwear is added: Before that, the Nike runners with world record holder Eliud Kipchoge were mainly reserved to wear this miracle shoe, now almost everyone can get it.
What exactly do the shoes do?
To person
Katharina Steinruck, born Heinig, starts for LG Eintracht Frankfurt and has been living in Frankfurt for many years. The daughter of national coach Katrin Dörre-Heinig is one of the best and most reliable German marathon runners. The 31-year-old police officer has her best time on 18.April in Enschede to 2:25:59 hours pressed.
I have been training with it since December. The difference is simple that the shoe returns the energy when running via the incorporated carbon plate-you have a pushback effect. It is said that the shoe of the energy that you actually release on the ground returns up to 70 percent. This means that you can run a high speed for much longer because the fatigue is delayed.Accordingly, you are automatically faster. But due to the hardened feedback, the affected muscles also react differently. You have to learn that over a longer period of time.Otherwise there are problems.
What does the Corona crisis do with athletics?
For me personally?I am a competition type, I need these comparisons to get forward.I lack this feeling to develop a competition routine.Races, events or championships are deleted rigoros in Germany, sometimes very short -term.Many underestimate what that does with an athlete who, for example, prepares for a marathon for months - and then the ground is suddenly pulled away from him under his feet. This also has financial consequences: funding is eliminated, starting and prize money anyway. We finance almost everything ourselves. Many athletes cannot afford that. The athletics scene is very unsettled. Therefore, you can only pull the hat that so many runners: do not let it get down worldwide.
Would you like more opening steps for sport, especially for outdoor sports such as athletics?
I also don't want the Corona numbers to go up, but it is basically about everything: sport, culture, gastronomy, retail. There are enough ideas and concepts for openings that work, but which are categorically rejected.Unfortunately, the same applies to sport where top hygiene concepts are categorically rejected.Sometimes the courage is missing. In return, other countries show that it can work with sports events, but nobody wants to take responsibility here.I think that's a shame, especially for popular sports. The virus may not have disappeared in a few years. So we have to find acceptable solutions.
Were you actually relieved that the output lock will only take place at 10 p.m. instead of 9 p.m. and runs for longer?
I personally do not hide it because I usually lie in bed with my feet before 10 p.m..I usually train as a professional during the day.It is much more important for the hobby runners who have been working for a long time and may not be able to start until 7 p.m. and 8 p.m..In general, I don't believe that the nightly lock brings us a lot.
Do you assume that you can start at the Frankfurt Marathon in autumn?
What comes for me after the Olympic Games is open.We learned that through pandemic: long -term plans do not bring anything. It is clear to me that the big marathon events in Berlin or Frankfurt-with these emotions with a large crowd in one crowd-are not possible so quickly.I am a realist. We have to think in smaller spheres;Maybe we will make vaccinations ahead to make events possible as soon as possible.
Vaccination of the keyword: Have you already got the syringe?
No, not yet.I would have had the opportunity, but I postponed it in the marathon preparation and assume that I can make my appointment in May.One or the other athlete can be led by vaccination for up to two weeks. It is therefore important that the vaccinations for the Olympic participants start as early as possible. But after that I will be as careful as now and for me personally follow all protective measures.
