While there are a variety of sneaker drops each week, few of them are truly original. One of them is the Nike Air Max 1 “Evolution of Icons”, which will be released next Air Max Day. On this day, Nike celebrates its innovative cushioning technology and introduces new models to celebrate the day. Including the long-awaited Nike Air Max 90 “Bacon” and the Nike Air Max 1 “Evolution of Icons”. (Also read: We all wished for this sneaker cleaner – Philips heard us)
At its core, the Nike Air Max 1 “Evolution of Icons” is a Frankenstein-type sneaker that combines the best of each brings together shoes from the Nike Air Max line. While each sneaker features a white upper that covers the midfoot and forefoot equally, this model's accents and history-inspired detailing are unevenly placed.
The "Infrared" elements of the original Nike Air Max 90 are picked up in the upper area of the eyelet bar, while the toe caps between the tonal stitching of the Air Max Plus on the right and the Nike Air Max 98 on the left.
The heels are embossed with the number “3.26” - the date of Air Max Day. Each Swoosh is branded in a different shade: the left side Swoosh is reminiscent of the Nike Air Max 93 “Menthol”, the medial side Sowoosh is reminiscent of the Nike Air Max 95 “Neon” and the right side Swoosh is one clear reference to the Nike Air Max 180 “Ultramarine”.
The standard Nike branding is omitted from the insoles. Instead, they are adorned with graphics of the most popular Nike Air Max models.
The Nike Air Max 1 “Evolution of Icons” will be available online from March 26 for around 140 euros.
