Kyrie Irving is in a dispute with his shoe sponsor Nike. The Brooklyn Nets superstar harshly criticized his new signature shoe via Instagram.
The "Kyrie 8" will be released shortly and will continue the popular sneaker series of the seven-time All-Star. But Irving apparently doesn't think much of the latest issue. "I have nothing to do with the design or marketing of the new Kyrie 8," Irving wrote.
"They are rubbish in my opinion! I have absolutely nothing to do with them! Nike plans to release them without my consent no matter what I say. So I apologize in advance to all sneaker lovers Heads and my supporters."
It is unclear what led to the dispute. Irving has been with Nike since 2011, the supplier signing him immediately after being made the No.1 pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 29-year-old has had his own shoe since 2014.
