Fashion Review: 12 outfits that shaped the year 2021

Again this year, the jogging pants in the Corona Home Office did not lose their importance. But there were also some historical fashion moments. We & APOs; ve chosen one for each month

January-Bernie Sanders' mittens

In January, a four-year long awaited moment came: the inauguration of Joe Biden, who was finally to replace his poorly dressed predecessor. It was a gathering full of hope and relief, a new beginning, starting before the Capitol in Washington D.C. that also promised the dress choice of the invited. Young poet Amanda Gorman in a yellow coat and with padded red Prada hairbands, as she recounts "the Hill we climb", will probably go into the history books. Also memorable: Kamala Harris' stepdaughter Ella Emhoff in the checkered coat dress by Miu Miu, Lady Gaga in spectacular (bulletproof) robe by Elsa Schiaparelli with golden peace pigeon on the chest or Kamala Harris himself in the purple wool coat of the American CFDA prize winner Christopher John Rogers.

So all were full of colourful anticipation, all but one. Somewhere in the grandstand sat in a camping chair sunk democratic Senator Bernie Sanders, packed into a khaki functional parka. He seemed as out of place as his choice of accessories: brown-patterned knitting mittens, which highlighted his defiant and estranged sight so aptly that they immediately became a viral meme-and thus the first must-have of the year.
