ECCO BIOM H4 BOA shoes - test, review and information

ECCO has been successful with its BIOM series for many years. This year's flagship - the ECCO BIOM H4 - is now being supplied with another alternative with the BOA variant. The technology remains the same, but new designs and the innovative lacing with BOA differentiate the models.

What's in the ECCO BIOM H4 BOA shoes?

"Shoes should be modeled on feet," explained Timo Vollrath from ECCO GOLF. This mantra was of course also implemented for the ECCO BIOM H4 BOA shoes. Because of this, the shoes have an unusual shape, but they follow the natural contours of the feet, making them very comfortable to wear. For example, the heel sits very low in a kind of cup, in the toe area there is room for all toes and the sides naturally frame the foot. The insole (Ortholite) and the footbed underneath are also based on the human foot.

The leather used comes from our own tanneries. Featuring ECCO Fluidform, a process in which special material in a liquid state is cast around an anatomical shape, provides a unique balance of cushioning and springiness. At the same time, an integrated, flexible and extremely resistant shoe is created without the compromises that have to be made with seams or glued connections.

ECCO MTN Grip provides grip on the golf course. The nubs used are not random on the shoe, but serve a very specific purpose. They are angled on the edges, in the middle they react with the stabilizers and on the heel and front tip they allow a rolling movement that occurs during a powerful swing.

The TPU stabilizers that grip the foot from the outsole to the midsole are visually striking. This construction gives the entire shoe stability, the feet sit tight but are not constricted and lateral support is guaranteed when swinging, which can protect against sprains. And here ECCO is experimenting with bold colors, so that not only the technology but also the optics benefit.

What do the ECCO BIOM H4 BOA shoes offer?

With one of the ECCO BIOM H4 BOA shoes you make a clear statement on the golf course. The shoes come close to the street look of today and could easily be mistaken for sneakers without the outsole. In addition to the look, the shoe naturally impresses with many technologies that are valued by golfers. Gore-Tex keeps your feet dry, the MTN Grip outsole provides grip and lets you rotate, the TPU blocks give lateral stability and various tips and tricks make walking and the wearing comfort pleasantly soft.

ECCO golf shoes are worn worldwide by Tour stars at their tournaments, including Henrik Stenson, Thomas Bjørn, Fred Couples, Erik van Rooyen, Doc Redman, Lydia Ko, Minjee Lee and Caroline Masson. Van Rooyen and Henrik Stenson joked about how they felt during the photoshoot for the new shoes. In the end you could agree on #cloudwalking because the walking feeling is so soft and comfortable.

The color variants black and white/silver-grey are available for women. For men there are models in black and white. The colors are each the basic colors, which are rounded off by further color accents.
